Miriam Nilofa Crowe

Miriam Nilofa Crowe is a New York-based lighting designer for music, dance and theatre. She currently designs regularly for Grammy-nominated and Latin Grammy-winner Lila Downs, Ko-Ryo Dance Theater, Nerve Ensemble, and The Drilling Company. Some favorite recent projects include The Wonder (Queen‘s Company), AfterNever (Jonathan Pratt & Bow and Sparrow), James Weingrod, Life After Dark (Dana Leong), A Touch of the Poet (Friendly Fire), Séance (Active Eye), Flags (Firefly Theater @ 59E59), Woman in Waiting (Farber Foundry), Beowulf (Lincoln Center Festival), The $trip and Phenomenon (Nerve Ensemble), Frag (TALR), The Designated Mourner (Cleveland Public Theater – sets, lights & costumes), and The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow (Yale Rep).

She has lit concerts by musicians as diverse as Jason Lindner's Now vs Now, Dana Leong, Break of Reality, Sofia Rei Koutsovitis, Juancho Herrera, The Knights, Hugh Masakela, Gidon Kremer, Tito Puente, Abdullah Ibrahim, Rufus Wainwright, DJ Spooky, Beth Orton and the Bang on a Can Marathon at venues such as Carnegie Hall, BAM, Baryshnikov Arts Center, KKL Luzern, The Fillmore, City Center, Town Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl.

She has a BA in English from Yale College ‘96 and an MFA in Design from the Yale School of Drama ’05.
