Alexandra Vásquez Dheming

Lighting Design

Alex is a Lighting Designer from San Salvador, El Salvador based in NYC. Her work is informed by the double-edged belief that performing and entertainment arts can be both a catalyst for change and regeneration, as well as a positive opportunity for escapism and beauty. She has forged a career in rhythmic lighting design, informed by a background in dance and visual arts training. Collaborators include SLM Dances, Nélida Tirado, Calpulli Mexican Dance, New York Theatre Ballet, Gay Men's Chorus, Big Dance Theater, Trusty Sidekick among others. Her work has been seen nationally (Lincoln Center, Jacob's Pillow, Park Avenue Armory, Guggenheim Museum, Baryshnikov Arts Center, CPR, PSNY, the Highline, BAM, Rattlesticks, Skirball, Kaufman Music Center, NYLA, Museo del Barrio, New England Conservatory of Music, Theatreworks, Works and Process, Boston Celebrity Series, Festival Flamenco Albuquerque), as well as internationally (København Danser, Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, Cannes Film Festival, NCL/Oceania Cruises). She hates apathy and the cold.
