Lighting & Projection Design
Calvin Anderson is a lighting and projection designer based in Brooklyn, New York. He has designed and toured with dance, theater, opera, musical theater, fashion, and live music. Select works in New York have been seen at Brooklyn Academy of Music, HERE Arts, The Joyce, NYLA, Ailey Citigroup Theater, Symphony Space, and many others.
Select US and international projects include working with Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Toronto Fringe Festival, Jacob’s Pillow, Chester Theatre, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, City Theater (Pittsburgh), The Pittsburgh Playhouse, and Perseverance Theatre (Alaska). International tours include Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Botswana and Lebanon.
Calvin is a visiting assistant professor at Wesleyan University, and has given talks about lighting to numerous academic institutions, globally. He is also resident lighting/projection designer and production manager for FJK Dance and production coordinator for The Bearded Ladies Cabaret.
Calvin holds an MFA for lighting and projection design from the University of Connecticut, where he was a graduate assistant. He also holds a BFA from Point Park University in Technical Theater. Calvin is a proud member of United Scenic Artists Local 829.
