Calvin Anderson is a lighting and projection designer based in New York City. Calvin has designed and toured for dance, theater, opera, musical theater, fashion, live music, and corporate/ private functions. New York projects include work at Brooklyn Academy of Music, HERE Arts, The Joyce, NYLA, Ailey Citigroup Theater, 13th Street Repertory, Park Avenue Armory, Schimmel Center for the Arts, NJPAC, and many others.
Select US and international projects include working with Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Toronto Fringe Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, Jacob’s Pillow, Chester Theatre, City Theater, and Perseverance Theatre. International tours include Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Botswana and Lebanon.
Calvin is resident lighting/projection designer and production manager for FJK Dance and is assistant lighting designer for Arc3Design. He also is a visiting assistant professor at Wesleyan University, and has given talks about lighting to numerous academic institutions, globally.
Calvin holds an MFA for lighting and projection design from the University of Connecticut, where he was a graduate assistant. He also holds a BFA from Point Park University in Technical Theater.
