Join Wingspace online for a presentation by Chloe Chapin called “Beyond the Gendered Power of the Tuxedo”.
Chloe’s presentation unpacks the origins of the Tuxedo and questions what it has symbolized throughout it’s history.
Following the presentation will be a discussion with Chloe that will address her transition from costume designer to costume historian and from the theater to academia. We will also discuss aspects of her academic research and how it compares and contrasts to theatrical design research.
Chloe Chapin holds an MFA in Design from the Yale School of Drama and an MA in Fashion and Textile Studies from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She is currently a PhD candidate in American Studies at Harvard University, where she received an MA in History and is pursuing dual secondary concentrations in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and in Archaeology.
